The fall of R3v?

Ha, gay!Where are you going to get yours? I have never considered getting a tattoo but I think one wouldn't be so bad.
Or maybe one of us can get "R3v is love" and the other gets "R3v is life". And when we meet up from time to time through out our lives, we link up our body parts to complete the saying, and then proceed to drink a lot of beer and live up to our tattoos.
I'd be into that.Leave a comment:

They are so bad at it.
Good read, idk about how it was before but r3v is awesome to me. Without the e30 wizards with all the knowledge noobies like me don't necessarily have, or that the bentely doesn't have, I would have been quite lost sometimes. It's also sweet to meet people who do tons of other stuff besides e30, like playin gta with gab and agent every once in a while, it's awesome. Somehow these cars have bred a great community.
In France I was walking with my friend one day and there was this blue e30 under a tarp, I could see the tails and the bumper and what not. I'm like "Lucas this dude owns an e30! Then my friend points to the driveway and there is another blue one on alpinas, and a minty e21 in the driveway. I'm like "No way!!!" Real euro e30's right in front of my eyes.
A few days go by and we are walking by again and the dude is inside his garage working on a vert, and I'm telling my friend like "hey will you go talk to him a bit with me because my french isn't fluent?" He says OK and then just walks by and I'm like f u dude. I tell him "these cars bring people together, I can't explain how or why but I am going to speak to him even though my french is trash." I walk up, we talk for a super long time, he speaks pretty good english. The alpina is real, the interior mint. We keep talking and he's like "ever been in an e21?"
"no"
"do you want to take a ride?"
"Sure"
We get back and he asks me if I want to drive, and of course I say yea! I ended up driving this minty e21, opening it up on the straights, in France, all because of these cars and a lot of the knowledge about them came from here, which helped when we were talking about 3 piston calipers and alpina badges and hartge wheels and everything, and made one of the best if not THE best night of the trip. Everyone on here is pretty like minded even though some have 800whp, and others have like 100hp. As long as there are e30's I think r3v will be alive.
This guy deserves an award. This is how you meet new people. We, as e30/car enthusiasts, share a common interest and commonalities is the key to making new friends. I met a kid at a local cars and coffee event that has an bagged 88' RHD E30 touring and because I went up and talked to him we're good friends now.

R3v has been there when I went I got my first blowjay, my first girlfriend, my first car, when I went to jail, when I got out of jail, when I went to college, and then some more college, when I got my first surfboard, when I started my first company, when I graduated college, when I got a real job, when I quit that real job, when I almost died, when I healed up, and whatever else happened in the last 7-8 years. I lurked for at least two years before I finally made an account.
Actually, I bet I have an account that I haven't logged into in about that long. Or maybe that was e30tech.
I remember when Danny built that turbo m42 for his senior project. And I remember when Danny got popped with a ref ticket.
R3v is love. R3v is life.Leave a comment:

I was six when r3v was formed, so if that shows anything it's that this forum will always be getting new people.Leave a comment:

Shit we are a cult aren't we... Some of us even given money to keep R3v going
Cult
\ˈkəlt\
: a small religious (e30 gods are real
) group that is not part of a larger and more accepted religion and that has beliefs regarded by many people as extreme or dangerous
: a situation in which people admire and care about something or someone very much or too much
: a small group of very devoted supporters or fansLeave a comment:

Lets put it this way. the first digital pictures I took of my E30, the camera used a floppy disk drive.. LOL2013 wasn't that long ago, how about the changes some of us have seen over the past 8-10yrs. When I signed up here, you could pick up a decent e30 for $1500-2k, and they were the same age as e36's are now. I bought a super mint 70k mile 86es for $3400 in 2006.
I was quite surprised to see e36 go into the "classic" category in realoem. They came out when I was a sophomore in HS and ended when we had out oldest child. I feel like these "old" cars are aging me, but so is my kids starting to drive :(Leave a comment:

What happened?
I took a year off from the forum after I sold my last e30 and moved across the country. Recently I came back to the fam and found it seemingly in shambles.
The best threads are some nonsense about a little kid who has a "she's dumped" cut coils POS with an M badge and something about a repeat scammer.
This isn't the r3v I knew and loved.
All the OG's seem to have gone, including the admins and mods. We have very few posts per day and they really aren't super stimulating. R3v may as well be a JDM forum. We have children asking questions that a simple search could remedy and no one bothers roasting them the way we all got initiated.
This is a forlorn post as I miss the way it used to be. Is the e30 community dying or is it simply r3v? Either way, this is a call to pull it together guys. We have a great community here that is worth saving, few people understand this love of these special machines in such a technical way that drew me here over other BMW forums.
If we are a dying breed, then let us go out in style.
As in my Navy days...
Hooyah R3V!!
Blame it all on Absorbantnut and lambo.
...
And St1g :finger:
But really there are amazing builds in this magical land you just need to skim the forum some more.
For starters, although not E30, check out Chubbychowders 2002 build (http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...oundie+revival).
Check out Cabriolet's restoration on this 4 door (http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...251334&page=14).
If you want to blame scene kids for the destruction of this forum, you definitely need to read the build thread by R3v's very own scene kid, Absorbantnut (http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...t=absorbantnut).
I know that not all of the posts are stimulating every day, but R3v will never be a JDM forum. I have learned an unhealthy amount of information about the E30 from this forum and still do every day I come on here. This is R3v, bullshit is the first chapter in our bible, but once you skim past the bullshit we have a solid community of true E30 enthusiasts to this day. Sure the community has been diluted by "maxing out your coilovers", BBS RS', and Accuair/Airlift, but that's what a lot of us like and I would say plenty of those builds are worthy of even the OG's respect. For example e30abe89 is on air, had BBS RS', and once was on Coilovers yet his build is awesome and the E30 is beautiful, (http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...270564&page=13).
The E30 community is not dying, it's simply changing and evolving with the times. Not all of the community is main stream and we still have cool unique builds pop up all of the time. I could link tons and tons of builds from my subscription list that would impress the average R3ver. This community is diverse and fits every ones liking. If you are a real R3ver, then go haze some kids! Shit, go destroy my emotions on my terrible build thread! I have only been here for several years, but I like to think I can defend it when someone says its going down the shitter.
So OP, buy another E30 that fits your bill, make another build thread, and show us how the old timers do things;D. Come one, come all, R3v still kicks ass with even more kick ass builds.
More E30's and builds worth linking for your entertainment:

Its pretty crazy when you compare mye28 to r3v. Completely different crowd.
Apparently first fivers used to be crawling with people and e12s, but they are another decade older than e28s. Keywords there is 'used to.' Even if it happens to R3V...
