Cordless Impact Wrench Recommendations?

Get the 1/2", don't need the fuel for wheel duty though. The 1/4" won't be able to do much. Although I'm confident the fuel model 3/8 could handle lugs as well, but it would be hard on it.
My brother used to haul a 12v 1/2" impact around for autocross. Plugged into his cigarette lighter. I think he spend >$50 and that thing was a champ. He ruined the bearings in his Ecotec from oil starvation before the gun died.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

The difference of the Fuel M18s in 3/8 and 1/2 is only 10ftlbs.
The real difference and to match or even beat the snap on is the M18 Fuel High Impact 1/2. Some 1100 ft lbs of nut busting.

I think I'll get a m18 1/4" pistol grip and 3/8" right angle for the engine bay, and some honking off brand 1/2" for wheel duty not often used.
Milwaukee seems to be the only that makes the 3/8 right angle so I think that makes the decision a little easier.Originally posted by flyboyxi have watched my dog lick himself off a few times

i have a milwauke m12 drill/impact/reciprocating saw set at home and i love it. the small impact is pretty stout but still very small and useable.
i have a makita 18v lxt drill/impact combo at work (heavy equipment mechanic). i have been using the impact daily at work for over a year and used it at home almost every weekend for 2 years before that. the other day we tested it against the fancy new snap on 14.4 volt on the truck and even with a battery i wasnt sure was fully charged my makita outperformed the snap on gun pretty well. it is one of my favorite tools i own. as exodus said, snap on ratchets, wrenches, and other hand tools are still king but their power tools aren't really worth the added cost.

Dewalt 20V MAX Brushed Lithium-Ion 3/8 in. Cordless Impact Wrench with Hog Ring (Tool Only) - DCF883B
Not only is it cheaper, but 130ft/lbs (both) is not much. Neither will break free anything larger than 15mm if it's rusted/seized. Neither will remove lug nuts. But since you're going to need an adapter between the gun and the socket for the one you got, you'll be reducing your available torque even more.AWD > RWD

Cool lets keep this discussion going...
Thus far, Milwaukee Fuel is at the top of my list, but I'll be damned they ARE expensive...(you do get what you pay for)
I did a little online research, and Hitachi also has a line of lithium ion impacts, including a 1/4" impact (brushless), and a descent looking 1/4" right angle impact.
The brushless motor does appeal to me, and the 1/4" includes 2x 3.0Ah batteries. Tool has lifetime warranty, batteries are 2 years.
I haven't seen Hitachi around much lately, but I used to as a kid when I was a roofer *used one of their nailers, and it was awesome...albeit pneumatic)
for $200 (on sale) for a brushless motor and 2 batteries and charger I think I might give it a shot and pick up the right angle when that goes on sale.
What are your thoughts on Hitachi cordless tools? stay away?Last edited by Mr. Burns; 02-17-2016, 10:38 AM.Originally posted by flyboyxi have watched my dog lick himself off a few times

One thing people don't consider about the brushless, in addition to significant gains in power and run time, is the lack of sparks.... A little piece of mind when working around fuel. Granted, I've never had a drillcause a fire, but it is possible. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

ugh.
as stupid as I feel, thanks for the heads up Kershaw...Originally posted by flyboyxi have watched my dog lick himself off a few times
