    hardtop lift

Recently got a hard top so had to come up with a way to install by myself. Attached are some pics of my makeshift hoist. Built a cross piece out of some 2x2 and stacked it so there would be no pressure on the rubber trim. Installed a pulley above to a cross beam and then attached a boat trailer winch to a column to winch the top up and place it on my car. Works pretty well but not sure I want to store it in an up position when not on the car. Took a few hours and about $35 in parts. Happy with the results. Will work on a system that I feel comfortable with leaving the top hanging. The last pic is of the cross piece to lift the top.

Niceeee, I wanted to make something like this when I had a hardtop. Instead I'd bother my neighbors to give me a hand removing it if no one was at the house. Very handy tool you made there!

I did the same thing in my old garage when I had a hardtop Wrangler. Worked swimmingly.

          Nice job

Had to do a few refinements like stronger hooks but it works great. Can easily install and remove the top by myself.

with my car i just rolled down the windows, tilted the front seats forward and then lifted it with my back. never had an issue other then after drinking once when my wife was gonna drive us somewhere.
