Was cruising around and lost the ability to select gears. Didn't hear a snap pop or nothing but apparently the shift arm gave up. Snapped it in two. And just when I need to leave town.

No idea. Gave me no warning other than a loose gear selector. No funny noises, no snap, no pop. Just gave up after who knows how much abuse from previous owners and myself.

Let's just say it's aptly named and I do not look forward to ever having to remove another one.

Well fuck me sideways... Just broke the selector rod (#11 in the diagram). Car is a late model m20 with getrag 260.
