    What keeps me going?

I only have the summer to pour money into my car. When I hit school - I have no time to mess with it, so it must be good now. :D lol

What Gus said. Helps to have a spare car or two to roll round in. Mine's been alot this year, but every time she peaks her beak out of the garage, she brings a smile to my dial.

            What keeps my going?

I read about e30's hitting 700,000 miles, and I want mine to roll that much too. And it will.

            e30 for life! :)

Seriously though - I love my car. Every drive - to work, from work, around town, whatever - puts a smile on my face. Every modification adds a new allure to the car, whether it be a new interior, a stroker motor, or a cat-back exhaust - it all adds to the enjoyment.

I've put far too much love, time, blood, sweat, tears, and money to walk away from it. Even after the engine swap - a day old mind you - went belly up with a blown head gasket, I still trudged on with a head swap. And now I have my beautiful drop top for the sunny summer months.

I know the car inside and out. I can pick up a bolt and tell you not only where it goes and what it holds on, but how many more there are. I picture repairs in my sleep sometimes - a valve adjustment, t-belt, whatever. If something breaks or acts up, I can figure it out fast and know how to fix it.

It's different from most other cars on the road (around here, at least) and still gains a fair amount of positive attention - it's a fun car and people can see how much work I've put into it, and respect me and the car for it. We live in a day that people have given up on taking pride in their vehicles for the most part - so to have one like mine shows there's still some of us who'd rather buy replacement parts and wrench on a 20 year old car than make car payments for a boring car with no character and 30mpg.

That's good enough for me :)

shit dude, it's called preventative maintence.

maybe if you tried it sometime you wouldn't be driving a hooptie that was falling apart on you.
