I have an extra 5 speed I want to let go with my car- but someone offered me $500?! My e30's fifth is messed, so how much less money do you think the car is worth without the extra trans?

Your best value will be if you stop being a lazy butt and put the good trans in the car before it's sold.
In lieu of that, 500 bucks is a lot of coin for a g260sigpic

OWWWWWWWW hahaha Flyboy I've spent a long time reading about the trans swap and I think I could do it but if I do the trans swap then I'm gonna be like "the trans is out- gotta do the clutch and rebuild the shifter" then it's gonna be like $500 for the parts! So many decisions I am struggling with, and I am starting college classes and working 40 hour weeks so my time for a trans swap is gonna be close to 0. Is it one of those things like I could take the driveshaft one day- take the trans out the next, rebuild the shifter the next etc?
Sorry for posting so much about this shit but you guys are like my teachers of the car world and I really appreciate all the help.BMW tech

Well, the biggest problem is that in order to sell a car with something major wrong with it, you will need to take a big hit on the price. I certainly understand the time issue. I definitely have those problems too.
If you can find the time to fix it, would you keep the car?sigpic

I don't think I would because the body has some rust that is repairable but beyond what I can do in my driveway, and I can only have one car so I want to have a clean example to make my own instead of one that's going to slowly die because there is some rust, and then not be able to swap the parts to a new e30 shell or something because I'm limited to one car. It's not terrible, just a bit on the skirts that someone bent up with a jack or something, then the battery tray which is the worst, and the rear shock linkages are rough too. If I could keep it in a garage I would probably try my hand at cutting the rust out and sanding it and everything with an undercoat but it has to be in the driveway. Luckily my town doesn't use salt so if I get another e30 winter shouldn't really do anything terrible to car, and it will probably be on stands all winter.
So basically I want a clean example so I don't feel like I'm putting money into a car that's going to backstab me some day because I don't have space for more than one car and don't know how to do bodywork
