how long before the light came on did you last check the level of the oil?

is there any oil in the coolant?

Should it be running if it just lost lots of oil?

Take a look at your spark plugs, wouldn't that be a good place to start? (since it didn't leak, it has to be somewhere where it shouldn't be...)

I'm goin off what I know, so some other people should be in quick.

sounds more like slow oil loss/consumption and the light finally came on.

there is most deff oil in the coolant, there has been for a while i have flushed the sytem 2 times, and so i do supose there is a slow leak into it. The only thing about that is i was coming home from palm springs 2 nights ago and the light came on and i checked the level at a gas station and it was perfect. so i though the sensore went bad just then for some reason. then i checked it the next day and it seemed the same to. and then this moring it went down a huge amount, so that confused me with a slow leak theory. thanks guys

Is it the oil level light in the check panel or the oil pressure light on the instrument panel? Either way, it sounds like you have a bad headgasket. Your engine's fucked.

Your head gasket is gone. don't drive the car anymore. Your oil pump might also be shot. don't drive the car any more and take it to a shop where they can look at the car.

having oil in your coolant isn't a good sign, but having coolant in your oil is a lot worse. are you losing any coolant? if you are, don't drive the car unless you want to rebuild the entire bottom end. in any case, you need a headgasket as mentioned above.

Please don't automatically assume it's the headgasket. M20 heads crack. Easily. Get the head pressure tested while you have it taken apart so you can be sure that it's the gasket and not a cracked head. Otherwise you'll have wasted the $$$ on a gasket/bolt set and still be fucked.

i had noticed that there was oil in my coolant after i had gotten my oil changed, so i thought some dumb ass had toped off my coolant with oil. but of course i am the dumb ass for sure. i thought if the head was bad my car would run like shit, and it ran perfect so i thought everyting was roses. long story short i deserve to be shot. and the light is on the check list not the dash
