History on a Piece of History

    Hey y'all;
I recently finished (mostly) restoring my 1984 hennarot 323i Coupe, and I was hoping to find out some more information on it.

    the vin is WBAAA7102E9535851

I have had a few people take a look at it, but it has stumped all of us. There is very little information available on the exact car I have... Reason being, it has an e21 door jam sticker, but is most definitely not an e21. It also has a rear retractable sun shade that was only available on e28's around that time (to my knowledge) and has individual fog lamp lights rather than a single toggle button. Many other weird factory bits that I am leaving out, but I would really love to get the juicy details on the car pre 1998.

I know the history of the car since it was brought to America in 98 by Kieran of Bell Buckle Motor Works, but there are some weird bits.

Rear sunshade was definitely an option on the E30. As for the door jamb sticker, I'm not sure what you mean by "E21 sticker". Can you post a photo of it?
    Car looks pretty loaded.

Do you mean a switch for front and rear fog lights? If yes, rear fogs are standard equipment. Front fogs were standard on 323i.

huh, I didn't know they offered it. Cool, that's out of the way!
I don't have a picture handy; the car is in my garage, but the door sticker is a yellow ID sticker with a 320i e21 pictured and described. The metal vin plate in the engine bay is marked as the actual 323i.
I will post a sticker picture as soon as I get to my garage!
      Thank you for the response!

yeah, there are two buttons; they may have been rewired incorrectly by the original importer, but the left one turns on the left fog and the right turns its respective light on (I think). I wired the existing fogs and plugs up to that end of the harness, but haven't messed with anything electrical in the cabin yet so IDK

Are you talking about the tire pressure sticker? What tire sizes does it list? Maybe they just reused the graphics. Not too far fetched since E21 was still in production in 1984

Left switch is for the front fogs and right switch is for the back.

snapped it into my system here at the dealer and I get nothing. Vin is not valid. Are you sure you posted the correct last 7?

yeah that was a thought we had at Das German; we think it was reused because they either ran out, or hadn't printed them yet

Last 7 are definitely correct. From what I understand, US dealers do not have access to the history of non-US cars. For some reason Canadian dealers do. However, VIN feature decoder tool should work for you.

I have the cassette holder in the trunk right now, but everything on that list is there. Crazy. Do you happen to know where it was sold originally? My best guess is Canada.

Also; i would love to know total production numbers if that is something you might know or could tell me where to look.

Thank you again, I really appreciate everything! I owe you a 6 pk sir!

It's a euro-spec, so definitely not Canada. Most likely Germany. You can email BMW Archives (info.grouparchiv@bmwgroup.com) for the exact sale country and dealer name, but they are closed until Spring 2016
