How come you have to save up money? You had $1,500 ready for the car right? Shouldn't you have $500 to spare now?

I only dropped $1000 for the car after we realized it had problems plus $255 at the dealer for the minuscule amount of work that they did to get the windows rolled up. The additional $245 went back into savings until I can get all the parts I need at once but I think I might have found one pretty cheap. I can't help the cheap side of me always wants to get a deal plus this is not a critical repair job since I already have 2 good running cars.Originally posted by DigitalwaveHow come you have to save up money? When do you think you could come up and check it out Ely? I'll pay for your gas and time. Until then I can afford to buy a couple relays.Originally posted by rs4pro3Like we discussed earlier, I'd think it would be best to go over the car with a volt meter till we find the real problem. Before throwing money at it. I'm free the next few weeks so just let me know.Last edited by RobertK; 07-06-2006, 09:10 AM.Comment

I talked to Ely (rs4pro3) and I think we might have narrowed it down to the Comfort Relay, Unloader Relay, and possibly the Hazard Relay.
What's sad is the Dealership in Bowling Green spent most of their time trying to communication with the ECU and rolling the windows up. I'm starting to loose faith in BMW techs. I should have known better to go somewhere that services BMWs AND Mercedes.
Would those relays also cause trouble with the ECU or cause it to not communication with the tech's computer or is the ECU fried too?
I hate to break it to you.
Since BMW and Mercedes both buy a large percentage of parts from the same suppliers. They are very identical cars in terms of parts and assembly. If you know one the other is not that much different to fix.Comment

What about next Sat.?Originally posted by rs4pro3I'm free all of next week. So when ever works for you.
BTW.. Should I go ahead and order those 3 relays and the ECU just to have them ready? I found an ECU for $100 shipped.
Hmm. I thought Mercedes merged with Chrysler and that's why their quality has been sucking balls lately.Originally posted by bmw_e30I hate to break it to you.

What else?
So shade tree mechanics are WAK and the dealer is WAK. There's not much left.
I am of the opinion that repair shops (dealer or otherwise) work on them until they're fixed! The best you can hope for is that it actually needed everything they replaced. I'm still at a loss as to why someone would take a car to a mechanic to have it checked out when they were going to sell it. Usually the buyer does that.
And as to that merger, Mercedes sucked up Chysler to Mercede's benefit. All they wanted was the manufacturing capacity. Chrysler will be history in no time.
