The fellow who brought his down from Canada for the E30 Picnic does not realize how lucky he was to get out of town alive. 165 E30 owners lusting for his car, I'm sure a hijack was being considered! :-)

Just kidding, we might actually get two of them down for next year's picnic. I'll provide security for them if needed. ha ha

Hopefully we'll get more than two down there. Maybe a little Canadian E30 Touring parade.

They are fun little cars. All the handling of an E30 and engine swap options, and you can toss two mountain bikes in the back.

I just put the chain side facing away from the carpet. But yes, a roof rack would probably be easier.

Picnic is in Washington State each spring. Close enough to the east coast.

i know this is totally illegal, and i don't advocate it, but what about driving one in from canada and doing a vin swap for a regular us e30? i know people do it on early vws that are diesel.

i really dont get the big deal. register an e30 in the US in the color your gonna buy a touring in. go to canada, buy touring. put US 325i plate on canadian 325i touring same color. and drive the fucker home. no one would ever know. you'd need a hook up on inspection, but everyone has someone to do that, and maybe a dash tag vin swap, but fuck, no one ever really looks into these things, they're just old shitbox's. or just wait a few more years when you can import them without federalization.

Seriously, just find a beater car somewhere thats the same color, swap out the dash vin plate and drive the bitch home. Our cars, even the newest ones, are 15 years old, noone even looks twice at em anymore except for the ones like us who love em.
