The ultimate oil change drain pan?

I have always run full synthetic in every engine i own for the last 10 years or so. I promise you that if you dont drain your oil out the bottom, you are leaving solids that will contaminate the new oil you put in your engine no matter how often you perform a change or the oil you use. There is always going to be some carbon that gets by your rings. This is one of the main reasons oil goes darker the more miles you run it.

Will it kill your engine? No probably not. I am betting it wont last as long though. For my money, i prefer to jack up the car and unscrew the plug. Im not condemning you guys for doing it. My opinion is just that.

again, many marine engines never get drained from the bottom over thousands of hours of running in a much harsher environment than a car and are totally fine. My boat is a '84 with a SBC 350 that has 3000+ hours and has never been apart. Oil 100% changed through the dipstick, zero issues. Doesn't burn a drop, good oil pressure, runs like a top.

Even when you drain out the bottom you are contaminating the new oil, there is no way to get all the old oil out of the engine, nor would you want to.

mind you I jack up my e30 everytime I need to change the oil...

I have a low slung pan, that fits perfectly without jacking the car. It's one of the number one maintenance things I love with my E30... don't need jacks or ramps to change the oil.

I'm actually fabricating one for doing transmission drains and what not. Gonna be out of aluminum and have castors on it. When I'm done ill post pics of it.

Why not use a FRAM oil drain kit. It comes with a tube. You can buy a longer clear tube from Home Depot.

I just wait until I smash the oil pan and need to replace it on the m42. I like to let my oil return back to nature you know?

I use a turkey pan. 10 bucks all metal, two handles, doesnt flex or break. Pours very nicely.
