    Flared 318is

Out of all the different ideas i have on what to do to my e30 next, I thought up what I mainly want to do next. Im thinking of putting on fender flares along with wheel spacers to get the right fitment. What are everyones thoughts on flares?

I was thinking either flaring just the back and getting bigger spacers than on the front and make it more staggered, or flaring all 4 with same sized spacers. Just not sure which would look best.

also, i would be cutting the fenders underneath to eliminate any problems with rubbing, and paint the fenders to match the Brilliantrot red on the e30.

Yes, it still has an m42

Usually people put flares on their car because they need more rubber than stock guards can house. You just want to hack up your guards for shits and gigs? Why?

      No.

Go wider if you're going to run flares. Don't just add spacers to fill out the fenders, that's lame.

I already have fairly wide wheels already so I think it would suit the look pretty good. I know what you mean though, thin wheels with big spacers doesnt look good at all.

Every time a E30 gets is fenders cutout a seal pup gets clubbed to death.
          Don't do it.

Thats the dilemma i ran into before posting on here. I like the look of flares but makes me sad whenever i think about cutting into my fenders which have no imperfections to begin with.

i could just not cut the fenders but then that means i would have to have wheel gap just so i dont shred my wheels on the stock fenders..

Don't shred your wheels because "a pup is going to die somewhere". If you have a vision and cutting your fenders to be wide and low then do it. If you aren't a resale value fiend then who gives?

But at the same time being too low sucks ass and having some wheel gap might be worth it. I used to scrape when I just bought the car and it sucked. The car will ride like ass and bounce unless you have it dialed and your exhaust is going to be precariously close to the ground among other things. I think some wheel gap and no scrape/ rub is 20x better than the look

I think he'd still need a small spacer (like 5-10 mm) up front to clear the caliper or the shock housing. I have a 10 mm up front on my car because the wheel hits part of the coilover if I run it with no spacers.

Yea true enough, I'm not too worried about resale but still don't want to chop up the body. I'll probably just go with wheel gap and no cut fenders, I'm already too low as is and its pretty terrible

Yea I have a 10mm spacer on the front already. The wheel used to rub on the inside at full lock. My wheels are already staggered, the fronts are smaller, so the spacers don't really make too much of a noticeable difference

probably going to be really retarded-ly stupid, but i am in for pix. i guess its your car. since you are from canada, it probably rusty as hell anyway. go ahead and fuck it up. don't forget to cut a few coils off your stock springs to get hella low. be sure to get some white gauge faces off ebay and throw those in your cluster too.

actually the question that should be asked is how old are you? my bet is >21.

OP, unless you're running more than 245's out back, you don't need flares. Hell, lots of people have run wider on stock fenders.
