Thanks for all the comments. I am debating losing the third brake light, but I'm kinda hung up on the safety factor...plus it is illegal. If I do eliminate the third brake light, I'll just get a non-cabrio lid.

I also have a "is" lip spoiler - those I know look okay with the third brake lights. I'll probably drill the holes in my lid and try out the M-tech, and if I like it I'll get a non-cabbie trunk lid, if I don't like it I'll just put on the "is" lip on my existing trunk lid and call it a day.

The M-tech is brand new straight from BMW in Germany, there are less than 25 left in BMW's inventory - but you can still get a new one. I won't tell you what I paid as I seriously doubt you will ever find one at the same price. Sorry - sworn to secrecy, can't reveal how I got it! ;)

And...the reason the third brake light should go is because with the mtech1...it'll be kind of obstructed in the back anyway - and it'll just look funky.
