This.
I'm probably weird, but I love the chrome on my '86. The airdam as pictured above would definitely improve the look on my car, IMO. Don't have the money for Euro bumpers, but would consider doing the tuck on mine.
Diving boards VS plastic bumpers aging differently?

The diving boards on my vert probably weigh less than the Euros because I removed about 1/3 of the metal and I cut and had welded the shocks so even more mass is gone. I like the boards on most cars but also like the other options. I should have kept my rust free cirrus 87 325 and done a plastic swap on that, it would have looked nice. With my vert I gave up the functionality the boards naturally possesses and hope for the best because race car/ foolish. For crash resistance I have boards on my E28 and wouldn't have it any other way due to the fact I drive it all the time. It mostly parking lot and small shrubbery protection.
BTW Rizo I like that RD spoiler. I have one but have yet to install it. I think my bumpers are tucked like an inch too much to keep it looking proper but I may have to reassess.Leave a comment:

has anyone really weighed the bumpers? Would the weight be euro >plastic > db? Someone said euros are lighter earlierLeave a comment:

Out of the 5 e30s I have owned they all had diving boards. At this point anything else would seems odd. Nice wheels, a bit of a drop and I'm fine.Leave a comment:

thanks man! and no it wont require much. the euros/mtech 1 rear are a direct fit for your 87. you just have to cut your tow hook.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the post and pictures J.Rizo. Your car looks very good!
Does anyone know if the links posted above would work with or without significant modification?

give me a second, I'm gonna shamelessly post pictures of my own car to show what I mean
okay heres what I mean, a rear valence reeeeeally makes the rear end look normal. since it looks unfinished from the factory (no clue why bmw let that happen). the pictures of the front are just to show examples of a non oem valence on an early. oh and idk if you just used ecs for reference purposes, but don't buy from them man, thats way too much money. buy used from forums and craigslist, but yes all of that will fit.
rear: early three piece zender valence
front: early racing dynamics valence

I'm indifferent to the bumper configurations, I prefer the early 'is' valence to the late one though.

So, is this everything you are referring to?I will say the db cars do look funny from the rear, BUT, as soon as you get a rear valence (and a front valence depending on how early of an early it is) the problem is 100% solved.
an early car with a rear valence to complete the rear end is a WORLD of a difference. no more weird spare tire well, and the muffler is hugged nice and proper.
however, I think chrome euros are the best, especially mt1. I personally do not like mt2 at all, it looks really cheap to me, not sure why but it just does. my sig is polished dbs but I plan on getting euros before I paint my car.
however as stated before, it just all depends on the car. but me personally...

Would all of this fit onto an 87 325is? Sorry about all of the NEWB questions, but I promise to pass the knowledge onto other NEWBs whenever I have more knowledge.

So what do you do about the rear if you have an "ugly" 87 325is? It bothers me as well how there is no rear valence.

Off topic, but I've heard the spare tire also helps in the case of a rear impact.
I agree regarding the early lack of a rear valance, but it bothers me far less than some of you; I'm excited to get my Zender piece on for that very reason.Leave a comment:
