    Full Coverage or Liability Insurance

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and the e30 community. I'm about to pick up a 1988 325IS and I was wondering what the best type of insurance for this car would be? Should I get full coverage or just liability?

Thanks for your help. I'm stoked to learn more about these cars!

Liability = if you hit someone your insurance will only pay for the damage to the car you hit; if they hit you, you will be covered by their insurance.

Full coverage = if you hit someone, your insurance will pay for their damage and yours.

Full coverage is liability + comprehensive, not a competing option.

what you really should be concerned with is personal injury protection and having enough liability coverage in case you get sued. the car is inconsequential.

I have 100/200 full coverage. Before that I had same numbers but only liability. Nando is right, the dollar amount you are covered for is far more important than comprehensive insurance. My car is my DD and I don't have a second car so a nice check in the mail would certainly help in case something happened. That being said, I drive super careful so it's probably money out the door

Just remember that if you don't have collision and you are hit by uninsured motorist, that you will not be covered for damage under the uninsured motorist claim through your own insurance.

My '88 Volvo 240 was totaled by a drunk driver with no insurance and I had to eat the cost of the car, towing, and rental car since my insurance only covered injury. Found out it would have been like $5 a month extra to have been fully covered...

1 Million minimum here, with mandatory coverage against uninsured.

Full coverage, free windshields is nice when you drive 50 miles a day on the freeways.

Bare minimum, from my experience the insurance co. is going to fuck you either way, might as well give them as little as possible. I feel like I am on my own, insurance isn't going to protect me.

I do 80 miles a day in rough traffic, its only a matter of time until someone rear ends me and totals it. I'll just buy something else and part it out.
