Could I get an opinion on this setup please? How much stretch would I have, etc.?
16x8.5 et12 with Dunlop 205/50/16
and
16x9.5 et2 with Dunlop 225/45/16 <--- This may be excessive
Thanks for all input.

No Proper Size Tires?

I am one of the few that fall into a different camp. While some people (stance nation) see how far they can push stretch and camber, I like to see how far I can push the limits with VERY little camber, very little stretch, ZERO poke, and ZERO fender rub. I want to be able to "drive" the car, no doubt. What? I easily found 225/45/16s for my 16x8 setup. That's a perfect fit, and they're good tires too, not all season garbage. It's not a staggered setup, but there's no real reason for it beside "the look" and most people going for "the look" want stretched tires and silly camber anyway.

You cannot get a matching diameter.
For instance, you can find a 205/45/16 (23.3" diameter), but no matching 235/40/16 (23.4" diameter)
Is this why everyone stretches the hell out of their tires?Leave a comment:

You can always do a 16x8 with a spacer in the rear.I need to research this some more. What is stock rolling diameter? I guess I could look that up...
You are correct, but I don't think everyone goes with a staggered setup for more tire, but for better aesthetics. Fatter lip, more concavity, etc. I struggle with this as I do like that look, but I am contemplating just doing a 16x8 all around.

But wouldn't the contact patch be the same for both wheels, essentially defeating the purpose of running a wider tire in back?I ran into this same dilemma with my 16x8 and 16x9 setup. I ended up just doing a 215/45/16 on the front and backs. The fronts look good but the rears are stretched a bit. When you looked at different sizes, you couldn't get the same tires or even close to the same tread rating.Leave a comment:

I've gone up in diameter to 24.6" rolling stock, speedo is actually more accurate and tire sizes seem to be much more common. Currently running 215/45/17. (yes I know not as bad to find as 16's) Makes 17"s look less funny.Last edited by AwakenNoMore; 01-06-2016, 06:27 AM.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the pictures. I can deal with that amount of stretch, but not more.
