I am trying to find out what the original gas cap for an early pre 88 car looked like ,was an optional plastic style availiable at the time?I think very few cars retain their original today.

they had metal caps then went to plastic, no idea when though. My 90 has a plastic cap, friends 87 has a plastic cap- 90 325is
