That sounds pretty damn cool. I think turbocharging is a great way to go. Good power, and if you do it right, it'll be reliable.

Those Porsches are a goddamn pain in the ass to work on.

actually BMWs are harder than Porsches (atleast all of the proper Porsches with the engine in the rear) i am a Porsche mechanic and after working on 911s all day long and then working on my car i HATE it. BMW does some really stupid stuff.
