Shit! I wish you were around before the engine blew up. Thanks for your input man!Unrelated to 4-bangers but similar era Toyota product with 3MZ-FE (2006 Toyota Sienna). Oil consumption completely stopped after switching to Rotella T6 5w40 from standard dino 5w30 as recommended by Toyota. I suspect the native design flaw is compounded by "big vehicle, little motor" syndrome and the standard spec oil is not up to the task after shearing down due to heat. A friend in college had a early 90's 4 cylinder Camry that would drink more oil than we could beer, switched to a HD diesel oil and away it went for many more years of faithful albeit boring service. That car did not see an easy life.Leave a comment:

[QUOTE=rcsoundn1;4571593]There was no check engine light. Thanks.
Also, to anyone who cares. The oil was gelling which is why it was not registering on the dipstick. The "oil" was burning at a much faster rate because of this problem. Took the car into Toyota today and was fully covered under oil consumption TSB 0158-14 and the oil gelling. They're going to put in a a fresh engine with pistons that wont have clogged oil passages. Thanks for the hazing guys and thank you to everyone who was trying to help. I really appreciate it.Last edited by Yungbimmer; 02-03-2016, 02:46 PM.Leave a comment:

...when the car falls through the deck of the boat? How will insurance on your boat fix your mom's car?
hee.
Dissapoint for flame lack.
Agree some toyotas are not living up to the 500,000 mile expectation.
Also have noticed that Camrys tend to have left seat occupants that have unrealistic expectations about how traffic- and sometimes physics- works.

I'm not sure about '07 Camry, but in earlier Camry engine, the oil could form a gel if driven more than 7500 miles. I would not be surprised if you open up the engine and find it filled with sludge. Sludge and oil dipstick do not get along well.Leave a comment:

[QUOTE=Kevinl;4571290]They should fix the car for free :hitler:
When you file that claim, see if they also fix stupid for free.Leave a comment:
