I got confused at the part about the PPI. It was the dealership he was buying from who arranged for the inspection? How does that make sense. It's like when a magician pulls a "random" person from the audience to inspect that is just a normal box..

I bought my e30 sight unseen (no pics either). Trusted the indy mechanic who did the PPI and his wife's (the receptionist) personal opinion.

Wired the PO a deposit and bought a one way plane ticket

Car turned out to be better in person than I imagined.
