Sorry to hear OP. I know these cars aren't cheap and parts certainly arent' getting cheaper as they age :/

OT, but why does your m20 sound so rough? it really sounds like there's a 1932 diesel tractor under your hood

1000 bucks worth of damage for a $50 stereo.

Suck this happens man. Trust they'll get what's coming. Also OT but you mentioned your dog is a pit/Rhodesian mix, is it mixed with a Thai ridgeback or a regular African decent Rhodesian ridgeback? Always wanted to see what a pit/ridgeback mix would look like.

Correct, it is not your fault. Like you mentioned, it's just your luck that you forgot to remove it and some asshat decided it's nice to get a free cd player. It just remind me of my cousin's wheels being stolen. The first time he forgot to park his car in the garage and they were stolen. He came out seeing bricks supporting his car. Anyways, hope you can get everything sorted.

Thanks for the input. I agree with you on all points and don't keep anything in any of the e30's, especially the convertible. Normally I do remove the stereo face but hadn't this time... because bad luck I guess. All he got was the old stereo. Even so... I'm not willing to say it's my fault it was broken into because I left the radio face attached. I mean I should be able to leave it unlocked if I so desired... not that I would do that.

This kid is just scum and should be castrated. I have no tolerance for those with no regard for other's hard work, time, and money. I've worked long and hard bringing that car back from the dead. I guess maybe I'm getting old... certainly old by R3v standards I'm sure.

    Video uploaded. First post updated.

Have one... pit bull/Rhodesian mix (weird mix I know). Sleeps like the dead though and they hit in the middle of the night. Also have motion detection light but have a 6 car driveway and the detection really only covers the first 4 cars. I think I'll keep the e30's up top from now on and the X5 and X3 down bottom...

Going to do some research into surveillance systems as well... at least have some video evidence for the cops to look at. Uploading video now...

We'd love to... have some positive equity in the house, but are just starting to try for a second child and have some repairs to make after a flood resulting from a poorly designed new development built above us. A move just doesn't really fit in ATM if you know what I mean.

Just took the video... will upload it tonight. Really laughable what these guys do. They made out with a Kenwood X9xx something from like 8 years ago... and that's it. They did as much damage as they could to get it out though.

Upside: The Luke box and the sub are still in good health. Couldn't get the amp either since it was bolted to the box with tamper resistant screws. So I guess I have that going for me.

This is mostly just to vent guys as this is the second e30 I've had this happen to me with... though I will post carnage pictures to come for the "amusement" of all. The couldn't have tried any harder to actually cause damage I don't think... it looks like a bomb went off in the car. :(

Simple story, went to bed @1AM car was locked in the driveway. Woke up @7:30ish to check emails and get ready for the day before the 2YO wakes up. She wakes up and I get her ready to go out and pick up a prescription for the wife for allergies. Go outside @ 9:30ish and all appears well, load up the little one and decide to take our recycle bin to the curb. Have to walk around the vehicles to do that and notice the broken glass. I wasn't going to deal with it then so I just took the trash to the curb and left. Looked inside it later. Still haven't gone in to really assess the damage. I have a Luke box and really nothing else of value in it... but I saw the radio was gone soooo we'll see.

Talked to the cops and insurance already... nothing can really be done. Officer who I spoke to (was writing the report over the phone) did say they could send someone out to fingerprint but that the dust stains everything it touches and is almost impossible to remove. Soooo... doubt that I will have that done. He said most of the guys operating in the area have been wearing gloves anyway. I'll take a detailed video and post it here when I go into it in a few hours.

Now, does anyone here have any experience with surveillance systems? We've never had problems with our house but our cars have been hit 3 times in 11 years. We're tired of it. Can anyone recommend a system/method for actually deterring and/or catching these types of pricks? These people are the scum of the earth as far as I am concerned...

Forgive the shaky cam and somber commentary... sorry.
