I would sell both. But would leans toward keeping the CRV. I believe FI either turbo or supercharge are good viable options or swapping out heads. Be a short project but end the end suit your need for that extra hp.

Because I don't want a god awful slow automatic.

Well, welcome to the "I do my front cv boots yearly" club. Get another set of front axles so you can just swap them in.
It was insanely cheap, I figured out the non-start issue in about 30 minutes of cleaning and now I have a well-maintained 109k, one owner 325ix. Also rust free <3 All the trim is there, just needs a bit of cleaning and TLC.

I have a Subaru and it's great, but it doesn't come close to the ruggedness of a pickup truck. Depends what you're looking for
Thanks for the correction, I knew that but had a brain fart.

Granted it doesn't have a low range, body-on-frame, etc, that make it a stellar off-roader, but it holds it's own.

I'd ditch both, but offroading on 4 wheels isn't really my deal. Dirt bikes FTW.

Of the two SUVs, I'd ditch the CRV. They're painfully boring, though practical, vehicles. Loud, anemic, and not very good off-road on account of the fragile and locker-free 4WD system.

I'm happy the crv pushed past the jeep
