Dude, congrats! I love the styling of the E39.

Have you been to any meets lately? I've been too busy.

Where is this shop that is going to be opening up?

Valley pan gasket- there is a cover in the valley of the motor below the intake manifold that covers up wehre the coolant passage was cast/machined in the center of the block. Common coolant leak spot on those motors. $$ labor to get it changed because you have to rip the whole intake and water pipe off the back of the motor off to get at it.

          Very nice!

Noticed you've also got Premium Sound also. Seriously nice for an OE stereo.

Just FYI, valley pan gasket pays about 9hrs-ish. So if you dont wanna do it yourself, prepare to pay for someone else to do it haha. I would change the fluid/filter in the tranny too if it hasnt been done yet. e39 540s and e38 740s are known for their transmissions dying around 130-140k

Thanks Adam...now I know what it is. I've seen a few of those done and it does not look fun. One of my first thoughts when buying this thing was the damn coolant passage between the block but I did not know it was called a valley pan.

I'm taking care of the tranny oil and filter on Friday. My biggest concern at this point is the transmission.

Devo, the Shop is ESS. We keep hearing lots of talk and so far no results. If it happens great, if not, I'm still happy.

At first I thought I might sell the E30 as I was having so much fun with this thing. But after driving it for two weeks, I realized that I would miss my go-cart. We are not crazy guys. These e30 cars really are awesome. They defnietly have some drawbacks that makes them not the best daily drivers, but they are still so much fun.

                      Good stuff.

So your parents don't mind that you use up both spots in the garage.......

PS: Ditch the chrome rims ASAP.

Nice car. One of my favorite BMWs is the E39, and I'd love to have one. Glad you were able to reach your goal. What are you studying in college?

I have the same goal as you. I'm going to keep my E30 until I graduate from college (3 or so years), get a good job, and then get a sweet car.

Copped a good ride I see Eric. I'm glad business is going well. You're one of the most motivated guys I've ever seen.

I sent you a message back on Myspace.

Haha, the garage is mine. I bought my first house last summer. A total shitbox for $199k in Tempe. I put in a lot of sweat equity but it was worth it. I still need to remodel the 2nd bathroom, refinish the cabinets, and lay some tile in the living room, but the place is shaping up nicely. The mortgage is about $450 more then the rent on my apartment which is not bad at all.

No way my parents would have ever let me do up the garage like I did. Hell, they used to be pissed when I would come home and do work in their garage since I could not do it at my apartment complex.

I'm studying business in school. I'll be done in May. Never thought I'd make it. Not sure if I will stay in for an MBA or jump into the real world. It will depend on how things are going with my job and business ventures.

TJ, I'll get back at ya on myspace when the server gets up again. Life is too short not to aim for the sky.

The 540i is staying bone stock unless the twin screw thing works out. It will be nice not having to think about what parts to order (I have e28, e30, e36, e46, e34, e32, and e21 parts on my e30) and not running into any oddball problems. Eventually I may upgrade it to 2003 540i sport spec (M parallel, clears, front spoiler, rear valance) but only OEM parts will be used.

Before any mods come, I need to get ahold of some Texas rental property. That is the next big real estate boom...mark my words.
