Do your math..
Nice speicments aren' exacty free here either..
If you want a solid shell go for a late touring. 318 -94 or similar..
Nevermind the POS engine, you'll fix that once stateside ;)
You have all the goodies on a touring from the start.. Rear discs, 51mm legs and most 94 have the black headliner and sports interior. At least here in sweden. ( Made 'cuz e36 touring wasn't available until later after e36 launch)Comment

I see the same thing here in Switzerland. The MFK (TÜV) is really strict when it comes to rust, so most E30 touring’s that you see for sale are either ragged out late model 316s or 318s for export, or the well optioned high end iX touring’s for 8000-15000 Francs.
I’d guess there’s more selection here in Europe, but when it comes to rust free cars, Asia is probably a better place to look.1974 2002L

I disagree, I drove roguetoasters 324td wagon and it was really cool. That said, I have not had to experience any of the maintenance.
Oh sure. The actual money cost is really only half the real purchase price. It's a headache and a half, otherwise I would have bought that 325ix touring, 5 speed, loaded, with ac and heated seats, on ebay.de 5-6 months ago. It was $3900. Add $1500 for shipping. And then all the fucking hours trying to get it registered. Eh. Probably for the best, in hindsight I really don't want another ix.AWD > RWDComment

You folks are way overthinking it. If you want a touring look in the US first (prices can be reasonable, and it's easier if you're afraid of the paperwork), Canuckistan second if you parleeeeey-vous that other language, and then try another continent!
It does boil down to do you want a touring? Can you afford it? If there are two yes answers then you find a car and buy one, duh.
If you end up looking in Europe I recommend starting with Ivo Christov, ovide on r3v & elsewhere. His website: http://www.e28.nl/Comment
