    Yakima rack?

I have a Yakima rack that has the gutter mount type feet. Im noticing that the weather striping is starting to get deformed from the clips that go under the gutter. Especially in the rear. Do people prefer the gutter mount feet or the kind that sit on your roof?

No I'm not going to get a Thule Rack. I got this rack for free and got a sweet deal on two bike mounts for it so I am going to keep this one.

    Thanks for any help.

Some of the feet are padded on the bottom and slightly contoured to match the shape of a roof. The go on the outside of the roof just before where the gutters are now. They are for cars without gutters, but its not like you cannot use them on cars with gutters I would assume.

Stick with the gutter mount. If you went with the padded foot on the roof you'd still have an attachment piece hooking on to the gutter. Gutter mounts are better for sure.

Ok... how those work is they latch on to the tiny little bit of a door frame. I do not think those would work on a guttered car like an e30 at all. Really what the manufacturers recommend for your car will work best.

Gutter mount is the only way to go on our cars.

Our cars are actually really nice for racks... supporting the max load weight and having decently wide bars. Im still damn tempted to throw a cargo cage on top. Anyone seen this done?

I dont think you even own an e30 you fruit from MA.

I love my Thule gutter rack system. It will only deform for a little bit... come warm springtime it all goes back to normal. I love being able to carry 5 pairs of ski's all winter.

Ive got the same piece of junk Ive always had.

Actually I think it is this shitty Rochester air that has dumbed me down.

On topic, Thule is better than Yakima.

Yup but I got mine for free. Otherwise I would have gone Thule.

I get my stuff from REI (outdoor store if you dont have them in BC) because I get a family discount. Any bike shop or outdoor shop should have them available to you.
