    Your take?

Heres what my planes are......Im selling my jetta so i can buy a 325i or ix...
Im going to be buying the TCD stage 1plus or 2 whichever is there top stage for the m20. So what im asking here is should i take my chances with breaking the awd or should i just buy the i.? i would really like to get the ix so i can drive it in the winter, but if im going to run into problems with breaking the front halveshafts and front transfer case to much then i dont want to deal with it. I know ill still have my problems with the i with harshness on the tranny but i think it would be cheaper in the longrun to do the i instead of the ix for that breaking pourpos....

So let me know what you think....oh ill probly add a few things to the tcd kit because i want to hit 300 whp.....They told me 290 was what the car would make on 14lbs..so i guess it shouldnt be hard to get the extra outta it.....
whats that its spikin 26 and holdin 16

          i or ix

No turbocharged car is gonna be a good winter car. However for longevity of parts the i is the way to go.

          just my .02 cents

even if its awd it wouldnt be a good winter car? I would think it would be fine.......depending on it running correctly do to the cold winter.....im talking about driving in the snow.....

The ix would be a much better car in the winter hands down. Id still take the i if I was going to go that route.

i've always wanted to see someone get an iX and throw a nasty turbo on it for some bmw AWD turbo action.

Go with the is you can do more suspension mods and more options on brakes like a five lug conversion, which you'll need on big turbo. The ix is kinda like the e30 M3 alot of the parts are hard to find and when you can find them there $$$. The tranny on the is is pretty durable just make sure to keep it full of redline fluid. I have a 260 tranny behind a 99 s52 obdI with alot of mods. I drive the car hard and haven't had a single problem yet.

looks like you have 2 vw's. They do pretty well with snow tires...

Keep one of your FWD's for winter.

A turbo car in boost and out of boost are two completely different cars. In the rain, with very good 205s... any boost means tire spin.

your obviously not worried about money if your trying to turn a stock E30 to a 300whp beast. Why not keep a FWD or just buy both? The power to weight ratio on a 300whp E30 is going to be close to a 911tt/F355/C-5 vette- cant say ive ever seen any of those attempting snow driving.

-but, thats awesome that your are building such a crazy car!

well my jetta wasnt real good last winter but i had goodyear eagle f1;s on it. and in the 4 inches of snow i drove it in it suckes it was all over the road. but that was before they plowed..( i guess that was a worst case scenario).

Ill be keeping one of the vw's the tdi, but its my wifes car. Theres no way im letting her drive a rwd car in the winter....She is a real good driver ive made her race my jetta many times but i dont want her to undertake driving my s-10 or the e30 in the snow.. i was told my s-10 should be good as long as i throw some snows on it and some weight in the back....Ill probly just do that and call it a day.....but on a side note..the tdi was awsome in the snow the last 3 yrs.....
