    Thinking About Selling My Car

I'm thinking about selling my car. I just can't handle the cost of maintaining it right now. I have a lot of debt and this car was supposed to help me pay it off, but all it's done is cost me a lot of money. So I wanted to get your opinion on how much my car's worth.

I have a 1988 325i Cabrio. It's an automatic with 142,000 miles on it. Here's some of the work it's had done:

    Inspection II @ 141,000 miles
Automatic transmission and diff fluid @ 141,000 miles
Replaced convertible top with slightly used top
Replaced all instrument bulbs and SI board
    Replaced door brake
Overhauld cooling system @ 141,000 with new fan clutch, thermostat, and pressure flush with coolant
Replaced rotors and pads @ 110,000 miles
    All new vinyl black interior
Replaced hood, trunk, and tonneu cover shocks

Now here's some of the bad:

Needs new steering rack (crack in plastic)
    Needs new transfer fuel pump
AC doesn't work--leaks somewhere and needs a recharge of R12
Needs new dash, steering wheel and underdash panel
Needs new or recolored exterior trim
    Driver's seat frame needs rewelding
Needs new tool kit (leak in high mount light on trunk ruined them)

Here's some pictures of the car:

The car is still in good condition with good paint (although some polishing would make it look like new). It rides down the road like a good German car should. I just don't have the money to make it what I want it to be, at least with my financial situation.

So, how much do you think the car's worth? I'd like to get $4,500.

    i don't know about 4500k
I've been trying to sell mine 90ic that is just about mint (every maint. part replace) for 5000, then 4500, and now less than that and no one is really biting. I think that e30ICs are a bit in a hole right now (depreciated fully, not gaining much value yet like the IS models) I think i will hold on to mine and enjoy it some more. For a price on your, i'd say 3500-4000 tops (just because it has nice paint and fresh wheels).

    GOOD LUCK!

I think you can get 4,500 for it, it is really clean. What are you going to replace it with?

I've decided I'm not going to sell it. I went over to the local BMW dealership and almost bought a mint 1997 528i, but I'd rather stay out of a car loan right now. For $13,000 I could do a lot with my car. It's just at that point where it's not restored, but it's not a junker either. It takes some money to get over that hump, so I'll just have to be patient. Thanks guys.

Cost me about $1,400 and took 4 days of straight work on my car.
