Some of you saw the Pro-3 E30 race cars at the June E30 Picnic in Issaquah on display. This weekend, Aug 5-6 around 18 of these Pro-3 E30 race cars will be racing at Pacific Raceways in Kent, just off of Highway 18. We were hoping for 20 cars this weekend, but two of them have recently been "written off" due to wrecks. :-(
Anyway, here is a link to a promotion about the event on the Puget Sound Chapter's club bulletin board.
We'll be trying to park as many of the Pro-3 cars together in the paddock, and the BMW Club will have a small hospitality tent set up with light snacks and water available during both days. So there will be plenty to look at in the paddock when the cars are not on track. Feel free to ask the drivers questions and feel free to poke around the E30s and check them out.
The basic schedule for Pro-3 is:
Saturday AM -Practice
Saturday Afternoon - First Qualifying Session
Sunday AM - Second Qualifying Session
Sunday Afternoon - Pro-3 Race at 1:00pm!
The race is 30 minutes long. Pacific Raceways is a 2.25 mile 9-turn road course with an elevation change of 150 feet.
There is a nominal entry fee of $5 per day or something like that. In total there will be something like 200 race cars racing in different groups. Open wheel formula cars, little Spec Miatas, tube-framed V8 ground pounders, they will all be there racing in their respective groups. A lot of eye candy to look at besides the E30s!
Let me know if you have any questions!
Cheers,
Lance Richert
