Dude must be packing his bags and catching the last flight out for fuckthisshitville.

Only reason I can think to not even bother speaking out. The guy has history here so it's a shame to see it end like this.

I never personally dealt with him, but I can speak for the quality of his work.

3 choices. Good, Cheap, fast. Pick 2. The way I see it, GAS offered the first two. Not "cheap" necessarily, but affordable. I would call it cheap (monetary wise) when considering the above par craftsmanship that you receive. It is a lot for the money. Luke takes pride in what he builds.

I'm not a people person either, and have been in a situation of running my own place with a partner and dealing with some really bad customers. Sometimes it gets hard to distinguish those with honest intentions from those who just want to fuck you.

I'm not trying to make excuses, I just feel bad to see this all go down like this. I can understand why he hasn't bothered to respond, especially if he is throwing in the towel on it all.

    It's a shame.

Going though posts looking through unrelated things the last few days I have seen a lot of instances of this guy being a real major dickhead to people for no reason. What was up with that, and why did it seem to be so tolerated? Some of it really crossed the line IMO, is it a good thing if this guy never comes back?

But if anyone got one of his boxes for sale in SoCal let me know.

Hopefully now he's formulating some kind of response.

To be fair, I, too, had a wonderful experience with Luke at first, and I would have paid more (his price point seemed low). However, for me, Luke had two minds. One = extremely helpful, "can do" attitude. The other = visceral attack.

I can recognize and admit to 'needling' or otherwise 'provoking' someone (I'm a southern girl, if you must know). BUT, I did my utmost to not ever provoke Luke.

At 4 months, I finally pressed Luke for an answer, after my son sadly gave up on his system, after purchasing the Sub, Amps, and wiring - scrimping and saving from working (he's still in high school). My son's spirit was a bit crushed, and Luke blew up at me for even bothering him with this. He gave excuse after excuse after excuse - none I believed, but I didn't challenge him on any of them either. He's got serious issues.

I also did the "$500 stereo install" then later got his crossover network with e36 speaker upgrade. The sound is epic and it looks like a work of art with the amp rack. I'm in awe every time I open my trunk. He really knows his stuff.

I didn't read the whole thread but I will say that I only purchased from Luke once and it was a 100% perfect transaction. He was always very helpful when I asked questions here on the r3v and even on FB when we were friends before I deleted my account. I hope all issues get resolved of course but it's always a sad day when someone walks away from the e30 market. Hopefully that isn't the case, the e30 is an old chassis and we should be stoked for the fantastic market that is available to us.

I have to find free time to do this stuff. I try to bank on quality, sometimes I'm delayed but if the customer is happy with the product, then all is good.

I have zero knowledge of Luke's situation. I haven't met him since one of the E30picnic parties like 8 years ago. I wish him the best but not communicating is definitely worse than just telling the truth - if you are backed up, can't get to it yet, missing parts, whatever, that's better than falling off the face of the planet after taking somebody's money.

George Graves should know this. I think I waited 1 year for that sunroof module? :p (I forgive ya George - it works great, I use it every time I drive the E30).
I was thinking the same thing, I am fine with waiting for quality, especially when I know its one guy at his house building it. I just have to set expectations, and so does the seller. I waited a while for George's switches but he set that expectation up front and communicated to me when I asked for an update, I couldnt be happier with the experience even it it took a bit longer then expected.

I dont know Luke, I would just say as someone who has been in sales for a long time, over communicate. Telling someone its not done and a reason why and some time frame of resolution is way better then no communication at all.

I hope this gets resolved because Luke was very helpful to me when I asked questions.

In terms of many enthusiast driven pop up businesses, that usually means it's some guy (or girl, hopefully well-intentioned), in their garage or basement, usually working a full time job, and balancing a family, a social life, chores, adult responsibilities, etc. When one person starts to become displeased with the transaction, you have two normal folks, with pride, stress, and unknown levels of expectations.

That is a bummer to hear on multiple levels. I had no clue people had bad experiences, I had talked to him on here and FB and he seemed descent. I actually just this weekend sold my single 12" and box I was going to put in my car so I could buy one of these boxes made to fit, was literally going to order this week and now i see this. Now I don't have a sub or know what I am going to do about one, something told me I shouldn't have sold that sub.
