^thats going to be really nice. can't wait to see it finished.

you know more about your seats than i do, but they look later than 1 generation to me. all the first gen seats i've seen have really fat bolsters like the example in the ebay ad djjerme posted. 1st and second gen seats have 3 white elastic straps across the bottom of the seat. 3rd gen seats have a rubber/burlap looking diaphragm across the bottom. halo head rests started in the the mid 80's or so. i would guess you have 3rd gen seats.

originally, i had purchased a set of black leather z3 m roadster seats for my cabbie project. they were also about 10x more comfortable than stock sport seats. the problem for me was they just looked so out of place in the car. i sold them to buy the ones listed in the beginning of this thread. i have to say i agree with you that they are so much nicer to sit in.

There was never any sports seats done with the Alpina fabric though, so if you see a set, they are not original.

Also, the very EARLY C1's are somewhat carryovers from the E21 version, and as such have the same seats, which a slightly different Recaro (completely different fabric.)

Here is a set that sold on eBay recently:

thank you for this. that is actually an education for me. i wasn't aware.

They're first gen seats. Originally from an early Porsche 911.

Pic before I replaced the nylon straps.

They are real Alpina seats and Alpina floor mats. I bought these 4 years ago.

I guess next logical question, are you married and do you have kids?

Those can hamper the dedicated budget..

                          Called it! :p

Very cool pieces, still trying to decide if I want to go full 'tard with the Alpina interior. Got some other issues I need to sort out with the car before I pull the trigger..

I'll take a few cool cars and a nice parts hoard any day over ungrateful kids and an expensive cheating wife! I went with the first too after experiencing everyone else I know get bitten by the second.
