    the time has come

Well my car had been leaking oil but when i had it checked out they said it wasnt' worth fixing because it was going to cost a lot of money, and i had been planning a rebuild anyway. Well this week i lost a quart of oil.

I know its leaking from the head, but what part i have no clue, and the shop said it was leaking a little from a bunch of places. Obviously i need to pull the head and get new seals and a head gasket and such. I figure now is a good time to order pistons since i already have a td crank. my credit card can afford pistons and i have money coming in.

    My question is this

    2.8 no turbo

    2.8 turbo

keep in mind its an ix but honestly i need some help here i have to make up my mind, because i am not driving my car leaking that much oil.

NA owns, you'll break mad shit with a turbo, and also it'll be hard to fit all the plumbing in there

A nice low boost system would be awesome. I know two 325ix here in the northeast that have run low boost systems for years. Tubing would not be a problem.

well i am not putting a turbo just to say i have a turbo, nor am i worried about fitting one in there, i know it can be done. If it were your car what would you do, its a daily driver.

My motivation behind the turbo is that there are not many turbo ix's around, i think it would be cool to have one assuming i don't boost to high i think it will be alright.

2.8 less maintainance enough power most likely (never drove one) NA is just solid no waiting for power.

i think i should have made a pole.

                no waiting for power
I cannot wait to give someone on this board a ride in our 325i. There is NO waiting for power in modern, well thought out and properly sized turbo systems.

Dave is down to asking $3200 for the 3.0 from his cabrio, I think a well tuned 3.0 m20 would be perfect for a ix

yeah and how much to get that shit to PA....although thats interesting

hmm that engine would be almost ideal as much as he has done, how can i get in touch with him is he around?

and what all is done to that engine, or i should say whats not done to that engine.

Thanx for the pole whoever did that

i'd only swap engine for a m52 aluminum and i can't find one. There is a lot of custom work when dealing with an ix.

Shipping should be a few hundred, and you can sell your m20 don’t forget. I think his engine has a lot of potential with the right fuel management and maybe a bigger cam. I would buy it if I had the cash.

if you want a daily driver, go NA, i think the 2.8 would provide more than ample power, turbo, you will constantly be breaking things, tuning, ect, imo.. not worth the time and $. unless funds are unlimited, i would go wiht a strong fresh 2.8. Talk to fred kim, get his opinion on the power one of those 2.8NAs can belt out..

If Kansas-IX's car is any indicator there is a LOT of room over there for a turbo. If you stick with an M20 go low compression and turbo.
                            Im now E30less.
