just throwing up mine out there...

this was a 5th gear pull so it is slightly inaccurate

            4.10 LSD
            Chip
            Cat-Back
            Injectors

So using straight forward math, and assuming a stock E30 gets 140 at the wheels, I got 6hp out of a chip, cat-back, and injectors, maybe a tiny bit more because it was a 5th gear pull.

I don't see how you figure all E30's put 140 to the wheels, and you gained 6hp. I've seen stock M20's put 150 to the wheels, which you could then say you lost 4hp.

ahahaha, yeah, you really need base numbers from your own car to try and figure out any gains...also, some controls, such as: similar outdoor temp/humidity, oil change, new air filter, new plugs, each time you dyno...

Why are you wasting money on a dyno just to see your gains? You basically already know it will slightly improve. I could see wanting to see how much hp your putting down if you did big changes, but not 10hp.

Arn't you supposed to use the dyno to tune your motor?
Is the chip you got burned mapped for a stock m20 with your specific mods?

Where are all those people a while ago bitching about everyone just slapping these mods on there motors and expecting to get optimum gains without tuning?

I think he's putting his car on the dyno to investigate the value of the modifications in question that a large part of this forum has (M30 AFM, 19lb injectors/chip and full after market exhaust). He is not trying to tune or extract any further performance by running his car on rollers and getting numbers on how much power he's making. I would spend $50 just to know what kind of power my car is making.

to the original poster: will you be running a cat or straight pipes? If your having a custom exhaust made, maybe you should go for a removable center section.

I guess it would be cool to see what your car is making.

I somehow had the impression that dyno time cost more then 50 bucks.

FYI, I was a little cranky this morning before work. heh
