You must be going to the wrong place... I passed with lots worse shit on my car. Hell my reverse lights were not working when he passed me. Brakes were damn shitty that day too.

Thats exactly my point brew. A safety rejection instead of an emmissions related inspection.

What would have really sucked? If I had failed for something different this time...I would have to pay another 29 bucks again next time!!

Oh the B and B is going back on. I got it with the car and I really do like it.

You went to a crappy place. Our customers running the VSR center section in MA pass all the time. With borlas, supersprints, remus, yada yada.

NH is awesome. No sniffer, no cats, no noise restriction...no sales tax, no under cover troopers in camaro's/tahoes....

ahh, i love the granite state.

No he didn't goto a crappy place. He went to a place that doesn't want their inspection license pulled. He went to a smart place because they are running with the law. If you don't like the law - move to RI or CT or something.

I could care less about your rules in Mass. I live in New Hampshire.

That was really the deal, they didnt want their license pulled. It happened a couple months ago I was told.

New Hampshire has emmissions now, and they are stricter than Mass. I dont know how far back they go, but at work there were 3 year old Jeeps failing emmisions left and right.

wow you're guys inspections make californias look easy. i've passed easily in modified jeeps with modified catalytic converters, really loud exhaust, intake manifolds that arent CARB approved, etc. here they check for tags on headers, tags on cats (usually), but you can have exhaust mods definitely. california is the largest buyer of modified aftermarket car parts, so while its not EASY to pass smog, you can go through it with "approved" parts.

we dont have an "inspection" process though, nobody checks our brake lamps or blinkers, etc.

What, CA dosent even have a regular inspection???? WOW. In Mass they arent too bad, and stickers are not enforced really whatsoever. In NH they seem to be a lot stricter, and actually will enforce.

Mass has adopted the rule that it must be OEM....Alot of people with modified cars will be in a world of hurt if the states are allowed to continue passing this bullshit rules thru.

Check SEMA's webpage. It's a good source of info. http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspx?ID=61847

Inspection? We don;t need no stinking inspection!

Actually, we had emissions check for the last 5-6 years, and I always passed in the e30s with flying colors. They wanded the tailpipe, did a visual for a cat and other stuff (fun watching bubba try and look under the cabby when it was dropped), and pressure on the fuel cap.

They discontinued it, because the worst polluting cars (age-wise) and all commercial vehicles were exempt, so it was a total joke.

It's not the pollution issue strictly it's the complaints about noise. But then they should crack down on Harley riders, oh wait the cops ride those.

I believe a car being 20 years old is when cars only have to pass safety in MA. But diesels do not have to pass emissions.

1983 and newer have to pass emmissions. Older than that, and anything goes. However, most people dont realize that a emmissions R last 3 months, than it gets reinspected for free. My Mercedes wont pass, so all that I do is pay for a sticker twice a year instead of once, and its legeite!!!
