and mine has 94K miles on it right now...trust me, EUros doesn't have this shitty Throttle Response...even when the US M20 are in good conditionsOriginally posted by E30godzmines been this way since ive gotton it at 94 k i think.....that was a long 32000 miles ago though.Euro M3'87 NogaroSilver/Euro E34 M5 '93/Porsche 993 TT 97' Euro/Porsche 993 Carrera 95' Euro/Skyline R33 GT-R

Sorry guys, Euro spec M20s also suffer from the same "elastic" throttle response, and yes we do have a higher CR
The AFM certainly dont help and the Maf conversion improves things a bit but its still noticalbly there, I found a larger bore Throttle body improved things a lot , certainlty a cost effective mod.Comment

Ah ha - Elastic throttle response - and I too thought it was only my car. My E36 certainly has never done it.
Good to know.
So a bored TB and a MAF, huh? Damn.Comment

Hmmm
I always thought going WOT from idle just kicked your WOT sensor on before your AFM was fully open and that controls fuel so your ecu takes a crap on itself for a second until it adjusts and by then you're at 1,200 and it doesn't matter. I can hear a loud clank from my AFM slamming open because of this stupid Cone filter.Comment

see guys??? the euros has higher CR...anyways, they are a bit faster in throttle response over the US...enough for my needs... :POriginally posted by AntSorry guys, Euro spec M20s also suffer from the same "elastic" throttle response, and yes we do have a higher CR

the euro model M20s do not have any different of a motor on the later model US cars. I know this cause I live here in germany, and have owned about 30 or so different E30s. I think the problem is, from what I have experienced is that the CAM lobes are getting worn. this has a huge effect on the response. I had a problem with this on my old 320i motor, and It broke a few rocker arms not to soon after when I reved it high. The lightened flywheel does help some, but not really when you are excellerating, just with the motor at no load. if its not the cam, the germans tend to say it is due to low compression.Comment

but you ever owned a US spec E30? I bet the euros has higher CR anyways...I will find more info in manuals and will confirm what is behind of all this... :POriginally posted by mikeedlerthe euro model M20s do not have any different of a motor on the later model US cars. Pre-catalysator (up to 7/87 I think) Euro-models had a 9.7:1 CR. Catalysator-ready models had 8.8:1, which is the same as US-models, right?

Besides better Throttle response, what else does it feel like. Im thinking about doing this this summer, Do you have any dynos before and after maybe?Originally posted by mspiegleMAF inproved my response... but i have an AT so i bet you 5spd guys will have 2x as much improvment as me.90 325is

Most all the Euro models Have higher Cr ratio's.
Plus the latter 325i have different exhuast manifolds, and Cat-less downpipes.
Getting better throttle response is the whole reason I'm trying to use pre 85 eupr 525e pistons for my 2.7 build as they have an 11:1 cr ratio. Meaning I'll get around 10:1 with an I head slapped on top.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker
