91 318is, how much to spend?

Hello everyone, my name is Collin and i want to purchase my first BMW, or first e30 for the real matter. This is my first forum and post so please critique me as needed! I found a 91 318is i am very interested in, he wanted 2000 but talked him down to 500 then he said it would not be enough. With your expertise and my feelings after the drive, what is the most i should spend on this toy i want to be my rally car. It has 260k on the clock, still ticking he says. No speakers or stereo, he said it has "no rust" , new clutch, new radiator, new wires, new brakes and rotors? And also new engine mounts, he has nib racelands but i told him i dont want them as well. Here are the pictures
    P.S. i DD a 99 miata, and have owned a 91 celica, 86 porsche 944, 2000 or 2002 passat turbo and 90 accord.

$2,000 for a "rust free" running e30 is a great deal. Obviously try and get him down as much as possible, but I've bought lesser e30's for $2,000 and didn't feel robbed.

I agree with stonea. That car is worth 2k especially in washington. I think making it a "rally car" is a waste. Cant you just mess up some stupid honda instead?

I think this car restored is worth around 6k.

I missed the rally car part. Don't use that car for rally, if you have to use a BMW for rally get an e36. They're the "new e30". You can get them for stupid cheap and if you wreck it then its not hard to find another one for even cheaper.

That's a solid deal for 2k but no doubt has been beat to within an edge of it's life by a Hoonigan driver.

Yes, please destroy an e36 instead. Owners of clean e36's will thank you (+1 value) and another e30 will be saved.

          Signed, a clean E36 owner.
