Pretty much any later model Honda, Toyota, or Nissan. 5 speed, 4 cylinder. Great on gas, easy to fix (when they break, which is rare), plentiful parts new and used, all over the salvage yards, never leave you stranded, never worry about modding it.

I miss my 93 accord all the time. 290k miles and very little work done to it (shocks, brakes, etc) still the original engine and tranny. And I beat the hell out of it.

Yota trucks and nissan trucks are pretty dependable too. Something Japanese, for sure.

my wife drives a 92 525i 5 speed and its been a great car. cheap, reliable, but i haven't been able to resist the mods. definitely avoid the autos, and no 530s or tourings came with a stick.

yea 5 speed 535, they are getting less common, so you wont have a hard time if you ever decide to sell it later. and those m30s are bulletproof. and then your e30 will have an older sister. my car's name is valery and the e30 is lil' val.

I picked up a 96 civic 4 door about 5 months ago for my DD for $1500..Its slow as hell but REALLY reliable..Plus i'm getting near 40mpg with the small 1.5 liter engine..I handles pretty nice also in the rain. It's really hard to beat a honda if you want reliability.

                i know my honda's but I don't really want a d15.

a honda for a daily is easy to find anywhere you live, so i think I'm going to check out this 535 first. It looks really clean and has all service records.

                i guess we'll see what i get.

Yea, the D15 is REALLY slow..I do alot of kayaking and with the boat strapped on top the thing can barely make it up the mountain hills..lol..I had a build D16 in my old civic and it had alot more power, but not as good on the gas.

Personally, since the early 'Yota V6 is such a POS, I would buy a '91 4Skinner and put a chev 4.3 w/vortec heads in it. Better power, better milage, cheaper.

If S10s weren't such a pile of shit I would recommend that, but talk about junk. Keep the motor, pitch the truck.

even better choice if you are not worried about space.

Yeah, stay away from the 530's and 540 e34's. Most of em were made with a nikasil block that corroded. The 525's were alumisil and were much better. Lots of the autos in that gen had issues too. I see tons of em on craigslist all the time and almost all of em have trannies that were replaced. I have a 95 525i and it's a great car.

Yota v6's junk? What are you smoking? My pops' 94 4runner has 320k miles and purrs like a kitten.

Id get a honda civic hatchback. Cheap, reliable, and youll actually have some room to put shit in the back.
