I have to say, after putting the Alpina back together and driving it around for a while - I am jumping on the M30 love train as well..

They just have so much low end grunt compared to an M20 - course, I learned that the hard way in the E28 race car. :(

Oh...sorry for my earlier post where I thought it was a MM build.

^ It was good to hang, as always. Plus nobody went to jail.

I found these papers with the stack of notes and receipts from the original build...

Edit: I have no idea why my pictures are blue, it was really windy today though.

I got the chance to drive this thang yesterday. 1st gear is laughable, just zero traction whatsoever. Pretty much the perfect amount of power and perfect power band for an E30 though.

The thing that was most surprising to me was how tame the motor was when you weren't punching it. Totally refined and dailyable if you needed to. This thing has some definite 80s German voodoo magic going on.

    We'll be patiently waiting...

It's gonna hurt your crawling ability in the Scout.

So, can a regular Joe living in a van under the bridge build a similar motor to this, or is there sorcery in the head work and porting that only MM wizards can replicate?

I'll do a build thread on the new car once it's progressed a little.
