Im just wondering from personal experience what are the best bang for the buck tires that i can throw on my bottlecaps from autox/track time. Im in need of new tires badly. Thanks for the input
Bang for the buck, Khumos. If you can find a new set of victoracers lying around, jump on them, otherwise, the V700's are a decent tired, and run 110-115 bucks in a 14 inch size.
Best autox tires? The Hoosiers As303, hands down. Good bit more money though.
Are bottlecaps the best choice for Auto-X and track? My uncle got some cheap basketweaves to put on the track 2002 he's building up. Maybe if you are changing tires, it might be a good time to snag some 'weaves and mount the tires on those. They give another half inch of width and are 1.7lbs lighter. Just something to consider.....

I think that depends on the class you run in. If you run stock (who here on this board truly qualifies for that status) then you might have to use bottlecaps. The Golden Gate Chapter runs modified rules which classify based on base model and mods. Factory basketweaves on my car (originally equipped with bottlecaps) would be worth 1 pt, 205 60 R14's would add another 2.5 pts. Depending on what other mods have been performed, it may push you into a higher classification.
Another suggestion would have to be Falken Azeni Sports. Those are a great example of bang for the buck. Only problem is sizes are limited. 195/60/14 is all i see for 14s, $56 at discount tire direct..
not in any size with a correct aspect ratio. you'll have to basically go with a really short profile (50 or so), and you can only get sticky hoosiers and such in those sizes.
Depends on what you are looking for. If you are just looking for a grippy, inexpensive dot rated tire that can do double duty and is available in a 14" size, then either Falken Azenis or for a little more, the Yokohama es100 is good as well, and you can get that in a 205/60 vs the Azenis in 195/60. If you are looking for R compound, the cheapest ones are made by Kumho and are pretty good, but not as sticky(though would last longer) than the Hoosiers. Toyo RA1's are good as well.
Make a decision on what your expectations are and what rules allow, and go from there.
I am running Azenis's on 14" basketweaves for now because it keeps me in a class where I can be competitive with the modifications I have done so far. If I went with R compounds, my costs go up and I am in even stiffer competition.
Yeah, Falken Azenis are a great tire. My friend last 10 Auto-x's so far with them. The bad thing is on the road they only last around 12k miles(thats of normal driving). I believe you can get them for around 50 bucks a tire, smackin deal!! 8)

If you can get 12k out of azenis, than I salute you.
I have yet to get more than 4k on any tire I have run yet. My ES100's lasted about 4k and 4 autox's. My Azenis have I think 4 autox's on them and 2-3k and now are strickly autox as I don't want to cord them and then try to get home. They will probably be ok for 2 more autox's. My Kumho MX's on Ronal LS's have 1 track day, 1 very wet autox, and maybe 4k on them and I will maybe get 2-3k more out of them. Now that I have adj front camber plates, I hope to get a little more miles on future tires.
