There's the factory blue book, the Haynes and the Chilton. None are comprehensive.
Clymer did one a long time ago, too. All of them, read together, and cross- referenced
to RealOEM make up something just slightly better than the Bentley.

Toby is correct, although I downloaded the factory manual from this link http://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/top...-for-download/ I've mostly used the forums for information. Haynes is supposed to be the next best thing, but it's not something I would personally buy.
In that sort of price range (maybe plus $20) you could get your friend a new 2002 hazard switch for when his fails unless the price has gone way up again.
