I would really like to find a completely stock 318i. As far as value, putting a M20 in there will not effect that much but those blue are not going to do you any favors. I hope at least you are going to remove all the screws and the vacuum connection flange from the intake to take off the paint. In for the MT1 goodness. :up:

Thanks. The original car I was going to rebuild had all the service history since day 1. It was awesome seeing receipts from the dealer for $19 oil changes lol.

Yes, I purchased it from Ian. He seems like a great guy. He was over a few weeks ago when we were going to attempt the swap but ran into an issue with the my body harness

I ended up selling the first one on kijiji a few months ago. In hindsight, I should have kept it. It was a 5spd coupe with black interior. Sold it for 1200 :/

I have a 91, 318I slick top 4 door sitting on the side of the garage right now. Got it from Austin, it's going to be turned in to a PRO3 one the weather warms up.

Seth, the doors are not perfect, but I got them on the spare pile for the racecars..

I couldn't make my 4 door slick top a race car. To clean. Its 100% unmolested and original I'd feel bad doing that to it. I dont feel like there is many floating around couple thousand?

It was originally white, now black. It's just a shell at this point and had a 24v swap before I got it. So I don't feel bad caging it.

My other racecar is so tweaked, that one is getting cut up and widebody at some point for ST class.

I couldn't get it to run, but I wasn't planning on keeping the eta motor in that car anyway. IT needed some work, but it would have been OK.

my 1984 325e was made on February 1st 1984. crazy to think that they made e30s as early as 1982, even when there were e21s being sold stateside until '83 iirc

Not really. It happens all the time because US DOT was weird like that...

For instance, Ford Focus, First gen body was made for long after the rest of the world had moved on to the new Focus platform. Both were being made at the same time in Mexico (the old, facelifted Focus for the US, and the newer second gen platform for South America and pretty much everywhere else..)

My 318i is a 5/83 build date.

RealOEM shows 5/82 as the first build date available in the US, with it jumping to 10/82 after that. I don't know how accurate that is, but it falls in line with stories of them making a couple very early ones, then jumping to full production a few months later.

On the other end of the scale, I remember a guy here a few years back buying an NOS shell with a 1996 build date.
