    Allow me to introduce myself...

I figure that being one of the few non-E30 people here I should let you know who I am.

I have a 1990 525i with an M20 engine, hence my reason for being here. I love the car. It has a lot of suspension work and handles great but sorely needs more power. In a year I'm planning on either (a) turbo'ing the car or (b) selling it and getting a 335i. I start a new job and need to have a car to drive up and back to work. So if I go with option (a) I can only afford something along the lines of a GTI or Subaru Legacy GT.

That said, here's what my M20s got already:
Reground cam - waiting on the specs, but I've been told its the same "mild" grind metric mechanic uses.
Rebuilt head - Ferrara valves, aftermarket higher strength springs, guides, seals. Head was a new Spanish casting with ports that looked like sand paper. 48 hours of machine work later they are at least marginally better than a stock brand new BMW head.
    Racing Dynamics Exhaust

Soon to have a Mark D'Sylva chip.

Well thats it, hope to learn a lot from you all in the next few months as I decide what to do with my car.

MAN, that 525 is looking NICE!!! Maybe an M30 swap would give you the power you need:D

Yup, I'm on BF.c as well.

An M30 swap would be very easy on this car. But I've got what almost amounts to a refurbed engine (we looked at the crank bearings during the head work and tested compression. Everything was great, motor has 122K on it), so I don't really want to swap to a M30. An s50 swap would be really nice but is a lot more money than a turbo for less power. I assume 300HP on a turbo is easy to get to. This is only a weekend/fun car so I don't need it to be dead reliable. I think a turbo would be more fun.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment. Here's a bigger shot:

And a shot of my car (with some Pshop help) looking very E30ish:

The ride height looks very streetable. What springs and shocks are you running? Other suspension mods?

DAMN, LOVE THE PIC!! A boosted 525 would be pretty awesome.

The front spoiler and splitter is Rieger. There is also a fiberglass ebay one-pc that incorporates both if you're into that sort of thing.

The car runs Eibach Pro-Kit, Bilsteins, RD Sways, 750i bushings. Running Bridgestone S03s 225/55-16. The front splitter rides about 4.5-5 inches off the ground. Its fine for most driving, can be an issue living in center city philadelphia though.

I think Legacy GT's are fantastic cars. Sport one of those and have fun with the e34.
