Scrap metal value of alumininum diving boards?

    Hi,

Has anyone taken their aluminum diving board bumpers to the scrap metal recycler, and had them weighed and gotten cash for it?

I thought I read a thread somewhere on this forum, a while back (can't find it now) where someone said the the scrap metal value of the diving board bumpers is worth more than the metal of the rest of the car combined. If that's the case, I may want to start collecting up people's old diving board bumper sets (I've got a few myself) and literally cashing in.

Also, would you go to a wrecking/ salvage yard, or a metal recycler to hand them in?

    Thanks Marvin.

those and radiators. I used to work at a body shop and I took all the radiators we had (which was a lot) on a regular basis. Averaged between 25-60 per radiator dep on weight. I say start your diving board collection. You might be surprised.

you'll get more for them if you remove all the rubber and other trim items.

not sure about anywhere else but alot of it depends on the size and quality of the aluminum... we take drops from aluminum in all the time where i work and you get a 'prepared' price if its smaller than 3 ft pieces. The diving boards might be 10-15 bucks... we take a 55 gallon drum in of aluminum 'prepared' pieces monthly... i think last time it was 50-60 bucks... that was completely full of fresh clean drops... so I think you'd need a shitload of bumpers to make it worth your time
