Looks like Ralfie's jumping ship too..

    http://www.spiegel.de/sport/formel1/...289679,00.html Auf Deutsch.

General gist of it, Ralf has broken off talks with Williams, says he's been in heavy talks With Renault's Flavio Briatore.

This leaves two open seats at Williams now. The general consensus is that Mark Weber or Jenson Button is getting one of the seats, but the real wildcard is this: Jeff Gordon is going to be doing a 4 day test with them in Spain this summer, the plot thickens.

Apparently Gordon enjoyed driving the William's car a little too much during Speed's "Trading Paint" (or whatever it was called).

Good. I heard that Webber was likely canidate for a spot at Williams. Jeff Gordan would actually be pretty cool. The only Nascar race I watch is the race at Watkins Glen, and I see that those drivers can do more than ovals. I don't know how well he would adjust to this type of racing though...

Not only that but Gordan like him or not is a really good driver. He has run a variety of series prior to Nascar.

He also dominates at the road course events until teams started to bring in ringers just for team points.

You know what's cool is that Valencia test trak is right near Rota NAS in Spain, I hope to be going next week.

Put money on Scott Dixon getting, at the very least, a test driving job at Williams.

Forumla 1 has desparately needed an American driver for over a decade. If you have someone who has the kind of name recognition that Jeff Gordon does entering the ranks of F1, you will see this sport gain in popularity over on this side of the pond in a pretty dramatic way. The man is a marketing agents wet dream.

I know that JG has done more than NASCAR driving. I believe he cut his teeth in motorsports running in dirt track racing (midgets and outlaws....a real primer series for those aspiring drivers looking to advance to NASCAR). Many have credited Gordon as being a good driver, but F1 is a totally different game. I would like to see him get a shot at it, even if he is just there for a season or two. It may open the doors for other American drivers to enter F1 in the future.

i really dont think that JG will do good in F1. dont get me wrong he is a great driver but F1 is more about just the driver(unless your MS. ) but i think he'll wash out like Andretti. they need a young american whos done F3000 . i think Red Bull has a good program to get a driver into F1.
