American Spec E30 In Germany

So I found an American Spec E30 in Germany. I got to tell ya I'm freakin excited because I can hook this up and bring it home to the states. Big question of the day is...

Does anybody know what the chances of some inspector actually opening the hood and knowing there is an M50 motor in there.

Oh yeah by the way if you need some Euro BMW parts Email me k?

No one should give you shit over a M50 in an E30.

It all boils down to this...

I can buy the M50 Motor from military junk yard for $197 and the tranny for about the same cost. So doing the M50 swap is no task. I planned shipping the car back, hoping that the American VIN would be enough for the car to go through because I am sure if they knew there was a E-Spec Motor they would have a cow.

Yeah...pretty easy, once you get the hang of it.

Have your pics hosted somewhere such as photobucket or we-tod-did racing, or if your ISP gives you some online storage..so you get a normal URL.

Then, in your post do thsi:

replace the www.whereveryourpicsare.blah with the URL for your pic.

                    Luke

The BMW is in ok shape for being an 89'.

Today I put some used Borbet Style A wheels on it (no pics yet)

Im gonna try to save the brakes for now, by using a wire brush to scrape some of the rust. And tommorow I have to trace the fuel line to find a leak I smell.

if you're really planning on bring the back, keep it stock. and then install all your euro stuff once you clear customs.

True. Would there some kind of kink shipping a motor?

Just to let you guys know there is something I can get really easy over here its those little check lights on the head linner but in all German if your interested in adding some homeland flavor to your E30. There in almost every car at the junk yard let me know.

Are you in the military stationed in Germany? If so, is the car coming home on military transport? A friend of mine who was stationed there recently said getting stuff back to the US aboard military transport was a joke. So long as they were benign items and nothing the military would consider getting after you for.

I would be more worried that it may not pass emmissions or something if you live in a state with strict emmissions testing like CA or MA.
