Shipping a car, anybody know anything?

I'm considering picking up a car that's roughly 2500 miles away. This means I need/want to have it shipped. I'd prefer to ship it in an enclosed carrier if possible and I just don't even know where to begin or who to talk to. If anybody could reccomend any companies or provide any helpful information that would be great!

I looked at this a while back, I just went to yahoo and put "auto shipping" and about 20 companies came up. You fill in an info sheet and then they will send you a qoute with all the options you picked. From Dallas to Toledo not enclosed was maybe 650-775 I think

When I was looking in to transporting my old Subaru 2.5RS from Western Texas to Reno NV the quotes I got where in the area of $2,000. I can't remember who I got those quotes from though, sorry.

Make sure to check whatever shipping company you find in http://transportreviews.com/

There are too many companies that I heard about taking people's deposites and not picking up their car, or taking too long...

I used Hilton Auto Transport to ship my m3 shipped from Texas to Cali, and paid $975. The car showed up earlier than expected and I was very happy with the service. It was not an enclosed truck though.

Intercity Lines, Inc uses enclosed trailers, and have a very good reputation on bf.c (they are also a bf.c sponsor). They are kind of pricey though.

The buyer in Ohio paid 900.00 to ship my cabbie from 90024. It was not enclosed but they were happy with the service.

They do not review well on the site posted in the above post.

Talk to uflnuceng (Jared), he had my e34 shipped to him for like, $750, and he lives across the country.

I used DAS to get a car from South of Chicago to Portland years ago. It was more expensive than others, I think it ran like 1200-1600. I should have opted for enclosed, since it got to me rather filthy and in a trashy wrecking yard for me to pick up. Overpriced and okay service from my experience.

Fly out and drive it back.

I know, it's not what you said you wanted to do, but it could be REALLY fun.

OR, find someone on the board to drive it out for you, and pay to fly them back- I'll volunteer if it's anywhere near NC... :)

These guys did a fantastic job with a CA to NC delivery, a special attention to detail.

Would highly recommend if you're looking to spend the money for enclosed transport.

Matt, send a message to sethla, he's the one that just bought my wife's E30, and I drove it to a place in Portland that shipped it down to LA for him, he should have all the details.

hey be very very careful and observant when they pic the car up and load it on. i had a company charge me $900 to ship from CT to KS and they had a accident mid way and when lowering it off the so called flat bed the craped the undercarage and gas tank. i made them pay me what the BMW dealership quoted for the parts and labor so i made out good, but still be very observant and tell the dude on the other end the same thing.
