Ah yes, Mr. Wolfe, I remember you from the M3Forum when you were looking for your Interlagos Blue ZCP e46 M3. I sold mine for a P-Car. Love the P-Car but miss the ZCP M3. However, don’t miss it as much as I missed the e30.

I had two E30s in the suburban driveway and needed advice from E30 people on which one to keep in the suburbs. I had to pick a username to join E30 fora. My suburban family and all my suburban neighbours in the suburbs were doing remarkably suburban things that day and my suburban kids kept interrupting me, saying 'Daddy...' . Thus, SubDad.
Were I to pick a new handle it'd be "What now FFS, and why are you still in my house?"

Back when Gran Turismo first came out (late 90's), I was typing my username in, which should have been Jim. I messed up and made it Jims by mistake. My bother was over one day playing the game and saw the Jims and laughed at it, he started calling me Jims..

So I kept using the Jims for GT for the all following renditions of the game.

Then I got into car forums in the late 90's, I tried to get the user name Jims, except someone already had it. I added 5543 to the end making Jims5543.

The 5543 is my Florida Land Surveyors license number. Being as how I worked my ass off to pass the 16 hour exam for the license and I was only 19 of 125 people in the room to pass that weekend, it has been a proud accomplishment for me.

Since I do not post here a lot, I will try to most more since I am elbow deep in a couple of E30 projects. Here is some background on how I got here.

In 1992 I purchased an E21 I saw on the side of the road for $1200. It needed a ton of work, I am a decent mechanic, I went over that E21 and made it a good driver. This should have been a calling for me to be a BMW whore but I got distracted.

I started farting around with RX7's I loved the rotary engines. I still do. Just do not want to spend the money on them anymore, at least for now.

I eventually purchased and owned an 1987 RX7 for 13 years, I built it up to be a 550 HP 2600 lb track monster that would terrorize the fastest Pasta Rockets.

My 15 year old son (at the time) had an opportunity to buy his first car from a friend in Virginia, it was a 1987 325i. It needed a lot of TLC but the price was right, $500.

He eventually sold that car when he was 17 and purchased a 325is from another friend, we fixed that up and he sold that too when he was 19, he then purchased a 318is with a S50 swap, which he still has to this day.

Here he is parked next to my buddies E30 M3 at the Tail of the Dragon.

I was so impressed by the BMW reliability and build quality, when the lease was up on my POS Audi A6, I handed it back and grabbed an E46 330i.

After about 4 years of being extremely reliable I traded it in on an RX8 R3. Pictured here with my sons 318is near the Tail of the Dragon.

My wife HATED that RX8, blindspots all over and when she found out it was one of a few hundred ever made she was afraid to drive it. I sold it and purchased my friends E30.

It is a 1991 318is with a M50B28 swap with a E46 6 speed transmission and a ton of upgrades all through out. The plan is to one day supercharge it, the cam in it is made for FI and the 2.8 was picked specifically for it to have FI. Past owners of this car were Rammstein and M3Eater both I think were members here. Bot impregnated their wives twice while owning this car, and in both cases that resulted in the car sale. The car was nick named, the pantie dropper. I have had it almost 3 years now and since I have the big V, I am safe. :D Front tag is a tribute to M3eater, he had the same style tag on it when he owned it.

I have since added another E21 to my garage:

I also own a 1978 Mini Cooper Pickup truck here it is meeting my son at a pub for lunch.

And for the Porsche guys, I used to own a 1982 Porsche 911 Targa, with a 1991 3.6 swapped into it, it had a 997 intake, cams, chipped and no mufflers, only a modified cat. I sold that because I owned the RX7 at the time, a toy had to go due to the economy crashing, I kept the fast car. ;) In hindsight, I should have kept the 911. :(

I used to be more active on here, my life is extremely busy, work demands 60-70 hour weeks and when I have down time I am typically wrenching on cars or spending time with the wife and younger kid.

Sorry for the long picture heavy post, I had some down time this evening and tapatalk taunted me with this thread.

Wow, just wow. That’s a lot of cool cars. I like the PantyDreopper.

Indeed, shame on you, selling the 911...for shame. And it was a 1992 airbreather.:0

That red 911 targa looks familiar. Do you know where it ended up? I think I almost bought it ~2 years ago from a guy on the east cost

Ha, nice! Yeah I found my ZCP about 4 years ago I think. However, I am now working on my e30 and in search of an air-cooled 911. I would say we have similar interests in cars. :D

Yeah, huge regrets selling off an air cooled 911. To be honest, if I had it today, I would be selling it anyway. They are going for 40K+ now. I paid 23K for it, drove it for 2 years and sold it for 23K.

If that guy was in Massachusetts, he was supposed to offer it back to me first.

I sold it in 2007 just before the housing market crashed, but I knew the crash was coming so I was getting rid of toys.

The OG owner that did all the mods to it live in Kansas City, the buy that bought it from me was his old College roommate. When the KC guy saw it was for sale he told his friend to buy it.

Damn, I miss that car, the exhaust on it was sex. I have to admit though, my sons S50 has a custom exhaust that sounds amazing and my 2.8 sounds pretty damn good at high RPM. And since I am being honest, parts for Porsches are stupid expensive. I do not miss that.

Again, really sorry. Just had to mention it.

Yup, thats the car! I really liked it and felt it would be right at home in SoCal, but Im way too cheap to own a 911 and Ive almost accepted that haha

For now, its a daily E30 and my 68 Datsun to fill my needs auto related
