its not dangerous at all... i use 7J front and 7.25J rear with undersized 195/50 R15 and never had any problems...

Yeah, I have 17x8 with 215 profile tires. It stretches them a little bit. I like the look. As far as safety, since you have less meat in contact with the road, your handling is mildly compromised. Something to at least be aware of if anything.
