Just out of curiosity, do you own an e30 with stretched tires on 16x9's?
If you're ever in NJ, pm me and I'll gladly give you a ride in mine, handling and braking are on point.
Yes, I do own an E30 and no, I do not run 16x9, nor will I ever. What I mean is, while you may have very good braking/handling with your setup, I am sure it will be MUCH better with proper sized tires

So you have no real or first hand experience with any of this? Yet you say this:

I used to run 15x7 with 225/50/15's, I can honestly say that since switching to 215/40/16's I haven't noticed any decrease in handling/braking or performance at all.
If I ran 245's on my 16x9's I would have no fenders left.

dude stfu, your car is sexy. Im not even partial to the stretched look but you rock it with balls. I like that. ;) And your car soundly and deservingly beat the crap out of my BBS RS'd E30 for COTM. Case closed. ;)

I love getting into heated debates on the forums Seriously though,
I said enough. Matt stomped on both of us. It's gotta be the turbo;)
Yeah but I only had like 10 votes dude. You had like 23-25 some crap. The competition was fierce and Im so happy an E30 was COTM ya know? Anyways, yeah back to my point.......stfu. haha

Man, don't take it personally, if you like the stretched look good for you, it does look good on your car, I just prefer function. The original question was IS IT SAFE? and while I can't say that it is unsafe, I will also state that proper size tires will be safer, that's all.
I don't think you will disagree that if, hypothetically speaking, you could fit 245 rubber without rubbing, your car will have better/safer braking/handling.
