What was the FIRST thing you bought for your E30?

I was laughing with my brother because his new-to-him '73 2002 is on a truck being shipped cross-country and he's already deep in parts and falling down the rabbit hole. What was the first thing you ordered/picked/scavenged for your E30?

I replaced all the things I touch first: the aging shift knob and brake lever with UUC machined pieces and steering wheel with a 350mm Viilante tri-color steering wheel. Still my favorite things about the car.

My first order was for this stuff:
    Head Gasket Set
    Shift Knob
    Bottom End Gasket Set
    Oil Filter
    Air Filter
    Exhaust Manifold Nuts (copper)
    Cylinder Head Bolt Set
    Spark Plugs
    Therm Gasket
    Therm O-Ring
    Thermostat
    Bumper Rivets
    Fuel Filter

A nasty shift knob should be replaced right away.

A new z3 shifter to replace the horribly worn out e36 shifter that was in it. Didn’t shorten the throw much more, but getting rid of the slop was well worth the price.

        Hm...
First was a USB stereo unit to replace the cassette player.
        Second was a Z3 4.27 torsen diff.
After that I just lost track.

probably m3 springs/rear sway and cabrio front sway bar.
perfect combo btw but then get ie3/koniSA/bimmerworld rear shock mounts.
that was like 10-13 years ago.

Timing belt, water pump, thermostat, coolant hose kit and V belts. Parts arrived before the car did from the shipper lol.

According to my records, it was...

Oil/filter, new crank position sensor, oxygen sensor (Bosch)... hood prop strut, trunk roundel (OEM BMW), used turn signal switch.

Before I even bought a E30, I got a center console, front door panels and rear panels.

When I got the car I had to replace a headlight lens to pass inspection after that the REAL first thing I bought was a timing belt, tensioner, water pump and some gasket that was leaking.

For my current e30, this is the same for me... Although I did get a rear plate filler technically first as it was a Christmas gift.

All tune-up related stuff: filters, timing belt & tensioner, tires, etc.
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

New drivers seat and a working head unit. Old one had a french quartet cd stuck in it and would play constantly on very low volume. Goofy first ride home
