Oh.... that 88.8 mph... I thought he meant that BMW had put some speed limit in the chip like my GMC truck has. That would have ratted my socks. Don't think I've seen the movie since it came out. It isn't one of the reruns that I like to watch. Lethal Weapon reruns are more my style.

That was my favorite movie when I was kid. To this day I would like to own a DeLorean sometime in my life (not a modded BTF one though; I just like Guigiaro's design).

As to the question, there were some '92 E30 cabrios left over from the '92 model year, so basically BMW recertified them as '93s and sold them until the E36 was ready in '94. So, you're car is comparatively rare, but it ain't worth any more. Sorry. ;)
